It’s not just a 3 day weekend…its not just an excuse to blow up fireworks…its not just a great excuse for a barbeque…Please teach your children the “real” story behind the 4th of July.
The Fourth of July is our country’s birthday. When children ask why, tell them what happened on July 4, 1776. That was the day our country’s founders declared independence from Great Britain. This meant they would no longer follow the orders of Britain’s king. In 1783, the new United States won that war, which we now call the Revolutionary War. This day is often referred to as Independence day & is an annual celebration commemorating the anniversary of a nation’s assumption of independent statehood.
Please take a moment this weekend to honor the courageous men & women dedicated to preserving our nations freedoms.
