Entertainment for your children that you can make that doesn’t have to cost you a fortune-playdough, bubbles & finger paints.

All of the ingredients you probably already have in your house and is an inexpensive way to make them some fun items to play with.

Homemade Best Playdough Recipes, I have attached 4 different ones, all used by different friends & family of mine.

1½ Cups salt

3 Cups flour

2 tablespoon cream of tartar

3 Cups water

3 tablespoon vegetable oil

Optional: food coloring

  1. Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large bowl.
  2. Add in water, oil and food coloring. Mix well.
  3. Put mixture in a pot and cook on low stirring constantly until you get the desired consistency.
  4. Knead until cool.
  5. Store in a Ziploc bag to keep from drying after play.

  • 2 Cups of Flour
  • 2 Tbsp of Oil (any oil will do, coconut oil, vegetable oil, even olive oil)
  • 1/2 Cup of Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
  • Pour 2 cups of flour into a bowl.
  • Add 1/2 cup of salt.
  • Mix in 2 tbsp Cream of Tartar.
  • Add 2 tbsp of oil. For this recipe I used vegetable oil but any kind will do.
  • Pour in the boiling water. (note: use caution, it will be hot)
  • Mix all the ingredients together until they form the dough. At this point, if you don’t want to add any food dye to your playdough its done, bag it up or add colors now.
  • After it’s cooled, to make several different colors of playdough, separate the dough into equal parts and roll it up into balls.
  • Now, pour your food dye into..
  • Knead the dough until the dye is thoroughly mixed. This is VERY messy! If you don’t want to stain your hands, use gloves, and make sure to put something down so you don’t stain your counter.

Homemade Finger Paint

Homemade Finger Paint

1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 teaspoons salt
food coloring

  • Mix all ingredients to the consistency of thick gravy.
  • 2) Add food coloring as desired. Use old canning jars  or margarine containers work well for the individual colors or go to the dollar store and get a stack of the small bowls w/lids. You want to store it with a lid, otherwise it will dry up.
